Origin: Europe, late 1800s. Historically used to thresh flax, separating the fibers from the seeds or preparing the fibers for processing into linen. Thresher is comprised of two curved wood panels and covered in flint blades. Originally dragged by oxen or horses over flax plants to separate the seeds from the plant.
